The Discipline Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has officially confirmed today that Igor Zubeldia and Jon Gorrotxategi will both serve a one-match suspension. This follows their receipt of a fifth yellow card during the recent match against Levante. Consequently, they will be unable to participate in the upcoming match against Atlético de Madrid at Anoeta on Sunday, January 4, at 21:00.

The absence of Gorrotxategi and Zubeldia represents a significant loss for coach Pellegrino Matarazzo during his debut. Both players were regular starters under the previous coaching staff of Sergio Francisco and Jon Ansotegi.

In defense, Zubeldia’s position is likely to be filled by either Duje Caleta-Car or Aritz Elustondo, marking one of the initial decisions for Matarazzo to make. However, predicting Gorrotxategi’s replacement is more complex, as his expected substitute, Beñat Turrientes, has not consistently held that position.
