Rayados de Monterrey are taking decisive steps to bolster their squad in anticipation of the Clausura 2026, actively pursuing key reinforcements in the transfer market. According to The Athletic, the club has reached a preliminary agreement with FC Cincinnati for the acquisition of Argentine winger Orellano, following the acceptance of Monterrey’s latest offer.

Negotiations have unfolded over multiple rounds, with Cincinnati previously rejecting two offers that did not meet their expectations. Monterrey’s perseverance has ultimately paid off, as the MLS club has approved a deal that aligns with their financial requirements. With only a few final details pending, Orellano is expected to travel to Monterrey shortly to finalize the agreement and join the team for preseason training.

The coaching staff at Monterrey has identified speed and one-on-one ability as critical needs, and Orellano fulfills both criteria. A product of Vélez Sarsfield, the 25-year-old winger has cultivated a diverse career, gaining valuable experience across Argentina, Brazil, and Major League Soccer. Before his time in the MLS, he played for Vasco da Gama, further enhancing his attacking prowess.

Orellano had an impressive debut season with Cincinnati, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists. He continued to make an impact in 2025, contributing two goals and five assists to the team.

His ability to outmaneuver defenders, create space on the flanks, and influence play in the final third has made him one of the club’s most dynamic offensive players. If the deal is finalized, he will bring this attacking threat to an ambitious Monterrey side.
