Real Sociedad Players Return to Zubieta for RecoveryReal Sociedad Players Return to Zubieta for Recovery

Ander Barrenetxea, Orri Óskarsson, and Yangel Herrera have become the first players from Real Sociedad to return to Zubieta following the Christmas break. They are continuing their rehabilitation from recent injuries, which have severely limited their participation this season, with Barrenetxea and Óskarsson having played only three and two matches, respectively.

The squad is scheduled to gather at Zubieta on Monday, January 29, for their first training session under the direction of Pellegrino Matarazzo. As has become increasingly common, players are returning to activities sooner, particularly those recovering from injuries. Barrenetxea, Óskarsson, and Herrera were seen at the facilities on Friday, and it is expected that more teammates will join them over the weekend.

The official commencement of the Matarazzo era is set for Monday morning, with the training session beginning at approximately 11:30 AM. In a festive gesture coinciding with the Christmas season, the session will be open to the public, allowing young fans to have their balls and jerseys signed by the Real players, notably those brought by Olentzero and Santa Claus.

Following this initial session, it is anticipated that the txuriurdin will revert to closed training, as has been customary in recent seasons. This practice will once again distance the players from direct support from their fans for several months, depriving young supporters of the opportunity to see their idols up close beyond this special occasion.
