omidbasir- Barcelona midfielder Gavi has been diligently working on his recovery following knee surgery in September 2025, which has sidelined him for the first half of the season. This surgery has added to a series of injury challenges for the young athlete, now 21 years old.

Gavi has been following a structured rehabilitation program at the Ciutat Esportiva, ensuring a methodical approach to his recovery without taking unnecessary shortcuts. February has been set as the target month for his full return, with both the player and the club committed to proceeding without haste.

Despite his absence from the pitch, Gavi has maintained a strong connection with the team. He has been an observer of Barcelona’s impressive performances, experiencing a mix of pride and frustration as he watches his teammates excel during this crucial season.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo after a recent training session, Gavi expressed confidence in his recovery journey, stating, “Everything is going according to plan. I’m meeting the deadlines they’ve set, and so far everything is going very well.”

He acknowledged the mental resilience required during this time, admitting that being sidelined has been among the most challenging aspects of his injury. “You learn a lot when you have these kinds of injuries. Above all, patience. What hurts me the most is watching my teammates and not being able to play,” he remarked.

Looking ahead, Gavi’s focus extends beyond merely returning to play; he conveyed a message of hope and determination for Barcelona supporters, emphasizing a desire for health, happiness, and success in future titles. He noted the team’s strong season but reminded everyone that vigilance is necessary, as no trophies have been secured yet.

As the new year approaches, Gavi reiterated his commitment to recovery, aiming to be fully fit within five months post-injury. He has embraced a different view of football during his absence, channeling his characteristic intensity into his rehabilitation efforts. Even during the festive season, he dedicated minimal time away from training, quickly returning to his recovery program.

The support from his teammates has been unwavering throughout this phase. Gavi expressed gratitude for the encouragement he has received from players like Araujo, Pedri, Lamine Yamal, and Balde, which has played a crucial role in sustaining his motivation during solitary training sessions.

“I have no complaints about my teammates; they treat me very well,” he stated, underscoring the importance of feeling connected to the group despite not being able to play.

Looking towards the future, Gavi remains ambitious, aiming to make a strong return and re-establish himself as a key player for both club and country. The next steps in his recovery plan will involve gradually reintegrating ball work and eventually rejoining team training, with February as the tentative goal, subject to cautious evaluation by Barcelona’s medical staff.

Beyond his club aspirations, Gavi has not lost sight of his dream to participate in the 2026 World Cup. He recognizes that while finishing the season strongly with Barcelona must be his priority, a successful recovery could still position him for selection with the Spanish national team. “Going to the World Cup would be very good, that’s what I want; although I must focus on recovery, finish the season with Barça, and then it would be great to be able to go to the World Cup,” he concluded.
