Appeals Committee Reduces Sevilla s Sanctions Following Recent IncidentsAppeals Committee Reduces Sevilla s Sanctions Following Recent Incidents

The Appeals Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has partially accepted the appeal submitted by Sevilla’s legal team regarding the sanctions imposed by the RFEF’s Disciplinary Committee. Initially, the Disciplinary Committee had enforced a partial closure of the North Goal Stand for three matches and a monetary fine of €45,000 due to incidents that occurred during the recent derby match. However, the Appeals Committee has deemed the nature of the incidents to be serious rather than ‘very serious,’ as previously classified by the Disciplinary Committee.

As a result, the penalties have been revised to a fine of €6,000 and a closure of sections N20, N11, and N12 of the lower North Goal Stand for one match. There is also a warning of a total closure should there be any further serious disturbances during matches.

In response, Sevilla has announced its intention to appeal this decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and will pursue all possible legal avenues. Additionally, the club will challenge the six-match suspension imposed on player Marcao following his red card during the match against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
