omidbasir- Manchester City is currently engaged in advanced discussions to secure the signing of Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo, as reported by sources to ESPN.

The club aims to finalize this deal early in the upcoming January transfer window, which opens on Thursday. Further negotiations with Semenyo’s representatives are scheduled for this week, and Bournemouth has been notified of City’s intention to meet the player’s release clause.

Semenyo is eligible to leave the Vitality Stadium for a fee of £65 million ($87.6 million) before January 10. In addition to Manchester City, the forward has attracted interest from other Premier League giants, including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Arsenal. However, sources indicate that City is currently in a favorable position in the pursuit of his signature.

Club executives have accelerated negotiations and made direct contact with Bournemouth after learning that Semenyo prefers a move to the Etihad Stadium. Bournemouth’s upcoming match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday will take place just prior to the official opening of the January transfer window.

In related news, Pep Guardiola affirmed that the resurgence of Manchester City began at the Club World Cup, and he has expressed his intention to remain with the club for the next season.

Semenyo has been in impressive form, scoring in his last three appearances, bringing his total to nine goals in 17 Premier League games this season.

City’s first match of 2026 will also be against Chelsea, with Enzo Maresca’s team hosting the fixture at the Etihad on January 4.

Should Semenyo join, it could lead to a departure for Oscar Bobb during the January transfer window. Additionally, Claudio Echeverri has had his loan at Bayer Leverkusen terminated, and sources suggest that he is likely to be loaned out again, with a temporary move to City’s sister club Girona being the current preference.
