According to Sport Bild, Eintracht Frankfurt is on the cusp of finalizing a deal to acquire Younes Ebnoutalib, the 22-year-old striker from SV Elversberg. Ebnoutalib has demonstrated remarkable performance this season, having netted 12 goals in the 2. Bundesliga. The agreement reportedly includes a base transfer fee of €8 million, with an additional €2 million in performance-related bonuses. It is anticipated that Ebnoutalib will undergo a medical examination in Frankfurt in the coming days.

Eintracht and VfL Wolfsburg have been competing for Ebnoutalib’s signature over the past week, with Wolfsburg reportedly making an offer of €10 million. However, Ebnoutalib preferred the prospects available to him at Frankfurt. Additionally, the German-Moroccan forward has personal connections to the city, having previously trained at the academies of SV Wehen Wiesbaden and Rot-Weiß Frankfurt.

Before this season, Ebnoutalib was relatively unknown in the professional sphere. He only joined Elversberg less than a year ago from FC Gießen for a transfer fee of approximately €50,000. After his arrival in January 2025, he primarily played for the SVE reserves in the Regionalliga Südwest, making only four brief appearances in the 2. Bundesliga last spring under current Werder Bremen head coach Horst Steffen.

Steffen had selected Ebnoutalib for the promotion-relegation playoffs against Heidenheim, but he only participated as a last-minute substitute in both matches, entering in the 90th minute. This season, however, Ebnoutalib has made a significant impact, scoring three consecutive braces across matchdays four, five, and six.

Additionally, he recorded a hat trick for Elversberg this year, establishing himself as the leading scorer in the 2. Bundesliga and increasing his estimated market value from €150,000 to €6 million in a mere four months. While questions remain about whether this late-blooming talent is ready for the challenges of the German top flight, Frankfurt appears willing to take that gamble.
