Borja Mayoral Faces Injury Setback Ahead of Key MatchesBorja Mayoral Faces Injury Setback Ahead of Key Matches

Borja Mayoral did not participate in training on Monday as Getafe returned to practice, due to a knee problem, with the full extent of his injury yet to be determined. The Parla native, who is the all-time leading goalscorer for Getafe in La Liga, is set to miss the upcoming match against Rayo Vallecano and potentially the early fixtures of 2026.

This injury would present a significant challenge for Coach Bordalás, as he would lose his sole pure striker and the team’s top scorer for the current season. With Mayoral sidelined, Juanmi and Liso would be the only available forwards for the time being.

If the injury keeps Mayoral out for several weeks, it may create an opportunity for Getafe to sign two new forwards for the remainder of the season, as the club considers it essential to recruit at least one striker.

It is worth noting that Mayoral previously endured a severe knee injury two seasons ago, which sidelined him for over half the season. After undergoing conservative rehabilitation, he successfully surpassed the scoring records held by Manu del Moral and Jaime Mata.
