Wrexham maintained their effective three-pronged forward line, which had previously dazzled in a 5-3 victory against Sheffield United. Both Broadhead and leading goalscorer Moore had opportunities to open the scoring but were denied by the exceptional reflexes of Preston goalkeeper Daniel Iversen.

Moments later, the duo combined effectively, with Moore demonstrating superb footwork to maneuver past Preston defender Jordan Storey on the right flank. His precise cross found Broadhead, who exhibited excellent movement to evade Liam Lindsay and head the ball into the net.

However, a significant setback occurred just before halftime when Wrexham’s hero Moore collapsed in visible pain. While the exact nature of his injury was unclear, it forced him to exit the game to a standing ovation, leaving the hosts to conclude the first half with ten players.

Substituting in Sam Smith for Moore, Wrexham struggled to regain their rhythm in the second half. Preston’s Thierry Small tested goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo early on, forcing an impressive save.

Desperate to exploit a Wrexham defense that had failed to secure a clean sheet in their last six matches, Preston came close again when the vigorous Alfie Devine shot wide from inside the six-yard box.

Despite this pressure, Wrexham nearly doubled their lead when newly converted wing-back George Thomason set up Smith, who unfortunately struck the post while off balance.

Wrexham, known for their late-game threats with nine goals scored after the 75th minute prior, finally made it ten as Rathbone capitalized on an exquisite through ball from substitute George Dobson, calmly placing the ball past Iversen.

As the match neared its conclusion, Preston ignited a tense atmosphere by pulling a goal back through Tottenham Hotspur loanee Devine, who scored just six minutes later. Nevertheless, Wrexham managed to secure all three points, advancing to 11th place in the Championship table, while Preston, managed by Paul Heckingbottom, fell out of playoff contention and dropped to seventh after defeats for Millwall and Watford.

Broadhead, scoring for the first time in seven matches, executed his goal impressively. He deceived Preston defender Lindsay by feigning a run towards the near post before expertly heading Moore’s delightful cross into the net.

Broadhead remained a persistent threat, driving Wrexham forward in the absence of Moore, who has made a remarkable impact since joining the club from Sheffield United, netting ten league goals. The sight of the Wales international limping off is certain to raise significant concerns among the Red Dragons’ supporters, who are left hoping that it was merely a precautionary measure and not a serious injury.
