Jordi Cruijff Appointed as Ajax’s New Technical Director

Jordi Cruijff has been appointed as the new technical director of Ajax, a decision that has garnered attention within the football community. Peter Bosz, the current head coach of PSV, has maintained a good relationship with Cruijff, stemming from their shared experiences at Maccabi Tel Aviv.

In an interview with De Telegraaf, Bosz recounted his surprise when Cruijff reached out to him regarding his new role. “He called me about this a while back, so I was already aware that something was in the works. However, I was quite surprised that he was open to the idea, especially since he had previously mentioned seeing himself as a Spaniard rather than a Dutchman when we were in Tel Aviv. He did not envision making such a move at that time. Perhaps it has something to do with the romantic notion of working at the club his father once represented: Ajax.”

While Bosz expressed enthusiasm about Cruijff’s new position at Ajax, he also acknowledged the potential challenges for PSV. “It’s exciting to be able to follow him more closely now that he will be at the ArenA. For PSV, it may be a bit less favorable now that someone with his vision is joining Ajax. Nonetheless, I sincerely wish Jordi the best. I find it intriguing and am eager to see how he performs. Let’s be honest: the name Cruijff and Ajax are synonymous, and they truly belong together.”
