Manchester City Nears Deal for Antoine SemenyoManchester City Nears Deal for Antoine Semenyo

Manchester City is on the verge of reaching an agreement with Bournemouth to acquire Antoine Semenyo for £65 million.

The discussions surrounding the Ghanaian forward, aged 25, have progressed significantly over the last 48 hours, focusing on finalizing the deal’s intricate details.

City has committed to meeting Semenyo’s £65 million release clause, with his representatives reportedly in Manchester on Monday to finalize personal terms.

Further conversations took place on Tuesday, and sources indicate that a complete agreement is imminent, especially with the January transfer window set to open on Thursday.

Semenyo, who is included in Bournemouth’s starting lineup to face Chelsea on Tuesday, has expressed a desire for his future to be resolved by January 1. However, it remains uncertain whether Bournemouth will allow him to participate in the match against Arsenal on Saturday, January 3.

According to sources from BBC Sport, Bournemouth is keen for Semenyo to play against the Gunners and also against Tottenham on Wednesday, January 7, before the release mechanism in his contract expires on January 10.

Though Liverpool has shown interest in Semenyo, it appears he is poised to join City unless the Premier League champions make a last-minute bid. Despite interest from five clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham, City has been the only team to initiate formal discussions with Bournemouth.

Semenyo made his move to Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 for a fee exceeding £10 million.
