According to Sport Bild, Eintracht Frankfurt is on the brink of finalizing a transfer for Younes Ebnoutalib, the striker from SV Elversberg. The 22-year-old has netted 12 goals in the 2. Bundesliga this season, and Frankfurt is set to secure him for a base transfer fee of €8 million, along with an additional €2 million in performance-related bonuses. The German tabloid further reports that Ebnoutalib is expected to arrive in Frankfurt in the coming days for a medical examination.

Both Eintracht and VfL Wolfsburg have been vying for Ebnoutalib’s signature, with Wolfsburg recently submitting a €10 million offer. However, Ebnoutalib appears to favor the sporting prospects offered by Frankfurt, partly due to his local roots as he previously trained at the academies of SV Wehen Wiesbaden and Rot-Weiß Frankfurt.

Prior to this season, Ebnoutalib was relatively unknown in the football scene. He joined Elversberg less than a year ago from FC Gießen for a reported fee of €50,000. After his transfer in January 2025, he initially played primarily with Elversberg’s reserve team in the Regionalliga Südwest, making only four brief appearances in the 2. Bundesliga under current Werder Bremen coach Horst Steffen.

Steffen included Ebnoutalib in the promotion-relegation playoffs against Heidenheim, although he only played as a last-minute substitute in both matches. This season, however, he has made a remarkable impact, scoring three consecutive braces during matchdays four, five, and six.

Ebnoutalib has also achieved a hat trick for Elversberg this year, elevating him to the status of the leading scorer in the 2. Bundesliga. His market value has skyrocketed from €150,000 to €6 million within just four months. However, whether this late-blooming talent is prepared for the leap to the German top flight remains uncertain. Nevertheless, Frankfurt seems willing to take that gamble.
