Pep Guardiola has chosen not to comment on Manchester City’s interest in acquiring Antoine Semenyo during the upcoming January transfer window.

Reports indicate that Semenyo is poised for a transfer to the Etihad Stadium, with City reportedly ready to activate the £65 million ($87 million) release clause in his contract with Bournemouth.

Sources have informed ESPN that negotiations are underway; however, during a news conference on Wednesday, Guardiola refrained from discussing the Ghanaian international’s potential addition to his squad. “I don’t have any updates at this time,” he stated. “I apologize, but the transfer window is completely closed for now.”

Should Semenyo join the team, it could result in Oscar Bobb departing to create space within the squad. Borussia Dortmund has shown interest in the injured Norway international, but when asked about Bobb’s future, Guardiola remained tight-lipped: “You can ask Oscar Bobb, not me,” he replied.

As City prepares to face Sunderland on Thursday, they aim to narrow the gap with Arsenal following an impressive 4-0 victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday.

Guardiola was queried about whether the recent results signify a two-horse race for the title. He responded, indicating that it is premature to determine which teams will emerge as contenders: “A few weeks ago, it was just Arsenal; two days ago, it was three teams in the title race, and now just one. We will see how it unfolds.”
