Brennan Johnson Set to Join Crystal Palace in 35 Million TransferBrennan Johnson Set to Join Crystal Palace in 35 Million Transfer

Tottenham Hotspur winger Brennan Johnson has reached an agreement to join Crystal Palace in a transfer deal valued at £35 million ($47.2 million), according to sources speaking with ESPN.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the two clubs had settled on a fee; however, Johnson was still weighing his options amid interest from Bournemouth, who are seeking a replacement for the departing Antoine Semenyo, who is moving to Manchester City.

Following discussions with Palace manager Oliver Glasner, sources indicate that Johnson has decided to make the move to Selhurst Park, with plans to commence his medical examination later on Thursday.

Johnson aimed to evaluate his options thoroughly before finalizing his transfer to Palace. Glasner is eager to bolster his squad as they navigate the heightened demands of European competition for the first time in their history, currently positioned 10th in the UEFA Conference League after six matches.

The Wales international concluded last season as Tottenham’s leading scorer, netting 18 goals across all competitions, including the sole goal that clinched a historic Europa League final victory over Manchester United, marking the club’s first trophy in 17 years.

Despite his successful contributions, managerial changes at Spurs have resulted in reduced playing time for Johnson, who has started just six league matches under the new management of Frank.

Johnson originally joined Tottenham from Nottingham Forest for £47.5 million (approximately $64 million) in September 2023.

Manager Frank, adhering to his strategy of refraining from commenting on transfer speculations, confirmed that Johnson trained well ahead of their upcoming match against Brentford on Thursday.

“This is the third time I believe I’ve been asked this question. While there are rumors circulating, I prefer not to comment, regardless of our intentions to sign or sell players or make staff changes. I’m not interested in discussing it either way,” Frank remarked.

“Brennan played a crucial role in our recent victory against Crystal Palace and trained effectively on Tuesday. I expect him to be fully available for the match against Brentford.

“He is an important asset for our team. Changes can occur if another player joins; unfortunately, [Mohammed] Kudus came in and excelled on the right side, affecting Brennan’s starting opportunities.

“Brennan began the season positively from the left flank. He possesses many valuable attributes, including exceptional pace and a knack for scoring. These qualities, along with his dedication to the team, are commendable. However, having more than just 11 players is crucial for success.

“Brennan is a professional of the highest caliber. He trained well today and is prepared for the game in two days.”
