Brennan Johnson, who has netted 27 goals in 107 appearances for Tottenham, is poised to join Crystal Palace’s squad for their upcoming match against Newcastle on Sunday. This follows his successful completion of a club-record £35 million transfer from Tottenham.

Crystal Palace is expected to officially announce the signing of the Welsh forward within the next 24 hours, having finalized the details of his move across London on Friday.

The 24-year-old attracted interest from Bournemouth, who were looking for a replacement for Manchester City target Antoine Semenyo. However, after engaging in discussions with Palace manager Oliver Glasner on Thursday, Johnson was convinced to choose Selhurst Park as his new destination.

Johnson’s signing will mark a significant milestone for Crystal Palace, as it surpasses the previous record transfer fee of £27 million paid for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke in 2016.

The forward originally joined Tottenham in a £47.5 million deal from Nottingham Forest in 2023, where he made an immediate impact by scoring the decisive goal in the Europa League final, ending the club’s 17-year trophy drought. However, his playing time has been limited this season under Spurs manager Thomas Frank, resulting in four goals from 22 appearances.
