Antony Returns to Training Ahead of Key Match Against Real MadridAntony Returns to Training Ahead of Key Match Against Real Madrid

Antony’s presence alongside his teammates on the pitch marked a significant highlight during the training session held by Real Betis’ first team, under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini, this Friday at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol. His return signals his intention to be available for the match on Sunday against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Brazilian forward missed the last training session of the year due to muscular fatigue after the Christmas break. However, he participated in today’s exercises without any issues, and barring any setbacks, he is expected to join the squad traveling to the capital tomorrow afternoon. He is likely to feature in the starting lineup for Pellegrini’s side as they kick off the New Year.

With Antony back in training, along with Diego Llorente and Junior who are also returning from their respective injuries, the only notable absence due to injury is Isco Alarcón. Isco underwent arthroscopic surgery on his ankle in Madrid on Monday, and his return date remains uncertain. Additionally, the team will be without internationals Abde, Amrabat, and Bakambu, who are currently participating in the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The first team is scheduled to train again tomorrow, Saturday, in a closed session starting at 11:15 AM, followed by Pellegrini’s press conference. The Betis squad will then travel to Madrid via AVE in the afternoon, where they will prepare for the match on Sunday. This marks the beginning of a demanding January, which includes league fixtures against Real Madrid, Oviedo, Villarreal, and Alavés, two Europa League clashes against PAOK and Feyenoord, and a Copa del Rey Round of 16 matchup that will be drawn next week.
