Emre Can Expresses Confidence in Future with Borussia DortmundEmre Can Expresses Confidence in Future with Borussia Dortmund

Emre Can is optimistic about his future at Borussia Dortmund, indicating that he expects to continue playing for the club next season.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Germany, the 31-year-old midfielder addressed his expiring contract, which concludes in June. He noted that there is an option to automatically extend his contract until beyond 2026.

“I believe we have a great deal of trust in each other,” Can remarked. “The club has an enormous amount of trust in me, and I have an enormous amount of trust in the club. I’m very happy here. I’ve encountered some challenging moments, but the club has consistently supported me. Therefore, as things stand today, I believe I’ll still be playing football here at Borussia Dortmund next year.”

However, Can acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football, stating, “In football, you should never make any firm commitments. We’ll see. But as things stand today: Yes, I will also be here next year.”

As reported in October, Borussia Dortmund is open to extending Can’s contract, but it may require the midfielder to accept a pay cut. As the club captain, Can brings invaluable experience to the younger players, making him a significant asset for head coach Niko Kovač.
