omidbasir- A year later, Valencia CF once again enters January in the relegation zone. Following Girona’s victory in Mallorca and a heavy defeat in Vigo, the Valencian team is poised to conclude the day in the second-to-last position, facing the threat of relegation to the Segunda División.

Valencia’s performance in the first half of the season has been dismal, with only three wins and a staggering 30 goals conceded, making them the second weakest defense in the Primera División, just behind Girona, which has allowed 34 goals.

Last season, when Carlos Corberán took over the team from Rubén Baraja, Valencia was also in a dire situation, sitting in penultimate place with 12 points. Currently, with new CEO Ron Goulay as the representative of Meriton in Valencia, it seems that a change in management is not being actively considered.

This marks the third time this season that Valencia has found itself in the relegation zone. Following losses to Villarreal and Real Madrid in rounds 10 and 11, the team occupied the 18th position. The battle at the bottom of the table is tight, with seven teams separated by just three points.

Ron Gourlay, Valencia’s CEO, mentioned prior to the match on DAZN that the club is actively working in the winter transfer market, although he described the current squad as “powerful.” He stated, “The market is open; I am not discussing players outside of Valencia, but we aim to add certain players to this roster, and we are currently assessing our options.”

Recently, around two hundred fans expressed their frustration towards the Valencia players and head coach Carlos Corberán upon the team’s arrival at Manises Airport. Amid chants often heard at Mestalla and shouts of “Corberán, resign!” and “You don’t deserve this shirt!”, supporters voiced their anger over the current situation.

The tense moment escalated, resulting in objects being thrown, one of which shattered a window on the team bus. The club issued a statement condemning the violent act via their official X account, accompanied by an image depicting the broken glass of the vehicle.
