Aidoo s Resurgence A Key Player for Celta VigoAidoo s Resurgence A Key Player for Celta Vigo

Aidoo, who was subject to transfer interest from Celta Vigo during the summer and continues to attract attention in the current winter market, is now gaining valuable playing time with the team. The central defender experienced a pivotal moment in his career when he sustained an Achilles tendon rupture in October 2023, but he is now regaining his form and confidence.

Last Saturday, he made a starting appearance against Valencia due to Starfelt’s injury and delivered an impressive performance. The Ghanaian defender had not played at Balaídos since September 15, 2024, when he came on during stoppage time in a match against Valladolid. Nearly 16 months later, he returned to play in front of his home crowd.

This season, Aidoo has already participated in four other matches, including two league games and two cup matches, all of which took place outside of Vigo. Notably, his team has won all five games in which he has featured this season, making him a fortunate charm for the squad, with a total of 298 minutes played.

His strong performance against Valencia has sparked discussions about whether it is beneficial to let him leave in the winter transfer window. Having entered his seventh season with Celta—excluding a half-season loan to Valladolid last year—Aidoo’s contract is set to expire on June 30, which allows him the flexibility to negotiate with other clubs regarding his future.
