Although he could have remained with Minnesota United, the pressures of playing in Miami might offer him the ideal opportunity to secure the No. 1 spot for the Canadian national team.

The competition is fierce, primarily against Maxime Crepeau, another standout in MLS who has previously held the starting position. Coach Jesse Marsch has yet to designate a definitive starting goalkeeper. However, St. Clair’s experience, including 18 caps and a starting role during Canada’s Gold Cup quarterfinal match last summer, positions him favorably when it counts the most.

While St. Clair exhibits undeniable talent, Crepeau brings an edge in experience with 29 international appearances. His extensive background across four MLS teams showcases his reliability.
