Celtic FC has announced a ban on the Green Brigade fan group for three home matches due to their involvement in “violent and threatening behaviour” during a recent match against Falkirk. The Scottish champions released footage they claim shows approximately 100 supporters verbally abusing and assaulting a steward and two police officers on Wednesday, October 29. According to the club, this incident escalated following a ticket inspection in the rail seating section of Celtic Park. The Green Brigade had previously received a suspended sanction during the summer for “repeated serious safety and security-related breaches,” prompting the club to take further action in light of this latest event. “In light of this incident, the club confirms that the sanction will take effect starting this weekend,” read an official statement. “We have communicated with the Green Brigade as well as our season ticket holders regarding this matter.” The statement further expressed that “for our staff and police to be assaulted in this manner is entirely unacceptable. This serious and violent incident cannot be tolerated, and the club is compelled to respond firmly to such behaviour.” Celtic Park is described as a venue where such conduct has no place, and the club is committed to ensuring the safety of all attendees at matches. The footage released by the club appears to show a group of fans rushing down a walkway out of sight, followed by more supporters crossing the front of the section to the concourse before reappearing later. Police Scotland has launched an appeal for witnesses regarding the incident. “We strongly condemn the unacceptable disorder that occurred on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, when two officers and a steward were assaulted by a large group of fans,” stated Assistant Chief Constable Mark Sutherland. He added, “No individual should experience harm or intimidation while performing their duties; assaults are not part of the job. This type of violent behaviour will not be tolerated, and we are taking every measure to identify those responsible and hold them accountable.” The officers and steward involved have been left significantly shaken and traumatized by the events and are receiving support. Authorities encourage anyone with information about the assaults or the ensuing disorder to reach out via 101, referencing PS-20251029-2196. Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers anonymously at 0800 555 111. In October 2023, the club indefinitely withdrew season tickets from a section of the Green Brigade due to a “serious escalation” of unacceptable behaviour, although this ban was lifted in December when the group agreed to adhere to a new safety code of conduct.
