Lionel Messi A Vision Beyond FootballLionel Messi A Vision Beyond Football

Lionel Messi is widely celebrated as one of the greatest footballers of all time, renowned for his exceptional talent and remarkable achievements, including winning the World Cup, numerous international trophies, and multiple Ballon d’Or awards. As he approaches his 39th birthday later this year, even the former Barcelona star acknowledges that his time in professional football is limited. In September, he candidly revealed that he had not yet made a decision regarding his participation with Argentina in the 2026 World Cup.

Despite discussions around retirement, Messi has demonstrated his commitment to the sport by extending his contract with Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami until 2028. In October, he expressed his excitement about continuing with the club and the prospect of playing in their upcoming stadium, Miami Freedom Park, which is set to open in 2026.

“I am truly happy to remain here and to continue with this project that has transitioned from a dream to a beautiful reality—playing in this stadium at Miami Freedom Park. Since joining Miami, I have found great happiness, and I am eager to be part of the moment when we can finally play in our new home, allowing our fans to enjoy this spectacular venue. It will be an extraordinary experience,” he stated.

As he looks to the future, Messi has also expressed interest in the business realm. In November, he mentioned during the American Business Forum that he is eager to explore opportunities beyond football, emphasizing his desire to learn and grow within the business sector. “I’ve always been fully dedicated to my profession, but I recognize that a new chapter is on the horizon, and I am gradually becoming involved in that world,” he explained.

In a recent discussion on Luzu TV, Messi shared his aspirations of potentially managing a football club, though he expressed a preference for ownership. Drawing inspiration from Miami co-owner David Beckham, he said, “While I don’t envision myself as a coach, the idea of being a manager is appealing. I would prefer to own a club, starting from the ground up and nurturing young talent, enabling them to achieve great things. This is what truly captivates me.”

Before Messi concludes his illustrious career, he is focused on maintaining peak physical condition to assist Argentina in defending their World Cup title this year, along with aiming for an MLS Cup victory in 2026. Currently, he is enjoying his off-season before resuming pre-season training in the upcoming weeks.
