TSG Hoffenheim has officially confirmed that midfielder Max Moerstedt, 19, has signed a long-term contract extension with the club, despite interest from VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt.

In light of losing former academy graduate Tom Bischof to Bayern Munich on a free transfer, the Sinsheim club aimed to secure their promising young talent.

“Max exemplifies the successful path our academy has established at Hoffenheim,” remarked Andreas Schicker, the club’s sporting director. “At such a young age, he has already amassed invaluable international experience at the highest youth levels, as well as in the Bundesliga and Europa League.

“He has demonstrated his abilities from the start, gradually acclimating to professional football and capitalizing on the opportunities given to him. We firmly believe that Max possesses significant potential for further development, and we are delighted that he will be a long-term asset for our squad.”

Moerstedt, who has made nine Bundesliga appearances off the bench this season, expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am truly thankful for the trust that the management has placed in me here at Hoffenheim.

“TSG provides me with the ideal environment for both my athletic and personal growth. Despite interest from other clubs, it quickly became apparent to me that I wanted to continue my journey here. I am eager to further establish myself in professional football and contribute to the team’s success.”
