Almada Focuses on Reinforcements and Upcoming Match Against BetisAlmada Focuses on Reinforcements and Upcoming Match Against Betis

Guillermo Almada is concentrating on the upcoming match against Betis, scheduled for Saturday at 14:00 at Carlos Tartiere. However, he remains aware that the transfer window is open and that his team requires reinforcements. With only eight goals scored in 18 matches, enhancing the attack has become imperative. Currently, the solution to Fede Viñas’s absence seems to point towards Álex Forés: “We are looking for one more signing for the forward position that can provide us with an edge. Forés has had a solid week, Borbas is still catching up, and Viñas was delivering good performance. We will likely lean towards Álex Forés.” Another option being considered is the promotion of Joaquín Delgado, a forward from the reserve team, although his non-Under 23 status complicates the situation.

The Oviedo coach perceives a clear evolution in the team’s gameplay but acknowledges that recent results have not accurately reflected their efforts: “We couldn’t secure a victory in Vitoria, but we earned it. We need to maintain the positive aspects of our performance and work on our deficiencies.” Almada emphasized one of Oviedo’s major shortcomings: scoring. For Almada, generating chances is essential but insufficient if they do not translate into points: “Effectiveness can be trained and explained, but ultimately it is the player who decides. It was unfortunate not to convert, but creating chances greatly increases our opportunity to win matches. This is why strikers are so highly valued.”

Despite the recent lack of victories, the coaching staff remains fully confident in the team. “Winning is the most important thing, but if you play better than your opponent, it becomes easier. That was the case the other day, although we fell short. I have a lot of confidence in the players, even knowing the quality of Betis,” Almada emphasized, fully aware of the level of the opponent visiting Tartiere.

The coach also highlighted a noticeable shift in the atmosphere surrounding the team: “Against Alavés, I felt a connection with the fans, and I’m glad for the players. I believe we have changed our footballing face in these last two matches, although there is still much work to do. We need to win and hope that anxiety does not overwhelm us. The support of our fans is crucial,” he stated.

However, Betis does not allow for any concessions. Almada made this clear in his final analysis: “We are going to give it our all. We have a necessity, and we need to fight for it 24 hours a day. Betis has a lot of quality, and they will demand concentration, effort, and skill from us. To beat them, we must play better than they do,” he concluded.
