PSV Prepares for Second Half of Eredivisie Season as Sole LeaderPSV Prepares for Second Half of Eredivisie Season as Sole Leader

PSV Eindhoven embarks on the second half of the Eredivisie season as the undisputed leader, boasting an eleven-point advantage over Feyenoord. With a third consecutive league title within reach, it is crucial for the team to avoid complacency. Their first challenge post-winter break comes against Excelsior, who will visit Eindhoven this Saturday evening. Coach Peter Bosz faces a selection puzzle, partly due to the ongoing Africa Cup.

As the Eredivisie resumes this weekend, PSV is set to host Excelsior, who currently sits in twelfth place, just a few points above the relegation zone. The Kralingers are in dire need of points to steer clear of relegation struggles, a situation that PSV aims to prevent by starting the second half strongly.

Defensive adjustments are anticipated for PSV, particularly given the absence of key player Schouten. However, they can rely on goalkeeper Matej Kovar, who has been a mainstay this season, especially with competitor Nick Olij sidelined for an extended period. Ryan Flamingo is expected to step into the defense, while Mauro Júnior will take over the left-back position from Salah-Eddine.

The projected lineup for PSV against Excelsior is as follows: Kovar; Dest, Flamingo, Gasiorowski, Mauro Júnior; Wanner, Veerman, Til; Man, Pepi, Perisic.
