Carlos lvarez A Pillar of Levante s AmbitionsCarlos lvarez A Pillar of Levante s Ambitions

Carlos Álvarez stands as a pivotal figure in Levante’s structure, consistently present regardless of the coaching staff, whether it be Julián Calero, Álvaro del Moral, Vicente Iborra, or Luís Castro. The Andalusian forward expresses his contentment playing for the Granota team, remaining calm amid various external interests surrounding him.

Reflecting on the current season, he acknowledges, “These are situations we have managed within the locker room. We would have liked to have more consistency, but we understand that the top division is challenging. We hope to find that consistency now to achieve our goals.”

Commenting on the arrival of Luís Castro, Álvarez notes, “Whenever a new coach arrives, the energy shifts. We have always believed, but during tough times, a new coach strengthens that belief. The coach seeks to implement his identity, and so far, what we’ve witnessed has greatly benefited us, maximizing each player’s potential to reach our objectives.”

On the subject of his contract renewal, he states, “I have said it numerous times. I am happy at Levante and grateful to the club for allowing me to play professional football and debut in the top division. My agents manage contract matters, and I am fortunate they involve me only when there’s something concrete. I remain focused on my performance and development. The club and my agents have maintained a good relationship, and I consistently express my happiness here.”

Regarding his physical condition, he recalls, “There was a moment last summer when I faced a challenging injury. However, by collaborating with the club’s medical team and external personnel, we found a way to significantly reduce the pain and maintain my fitness. I continue to manage it, but as long as it remains controlled, I can contribute to the team.”

Discussing the tactical adaptations under Luís Castro, Álvarez asserts, “We have embraced a different tactical approach. We adapt to various match situations, focusing on maintaining longer possessions, establishing ourselves in the opponent’s half, and keeping our defensive line further away from our goal, which aids in our defense. The manager has also emphasized the commitment of all players to ensure a unified effort and belief in our capabilities.”

When asked about his preferred position, he responds, “I serve the team and the coach. If the team needs me on the right, I will give my best. I feel comfortable in the center, closer to the goal where I can have a greater impact. Each position has its advantages and challenges, but I am grateful to have the opportunity for significant playing time and to score goals.”

Reflecting on the previous summer’s transfer market, he shares, “I have agents who simplify everything for me. They only inform me of what is necessary. I am clear on one thing: I am a Levante player, which has made everything more manageable. The priority was to secure positive results in the initial league matches, which we didn’t achieve. However, I remained calm, confident that the situation would resolve in alignment with the club’s and agents’ desires. I am very happy here.”

Expressing his feelings about playing at the Santiago Bernabéu, he states, “These are beautiful moments. These stadiums are those you see on television and dream of playing in. I am living my dream and know I want to play in such venues for many years. This drives us to fight for our survival and maintain the opportunity to compete in these arenas annually. I am enjoying it immensely.”

Regarding the departure of Calero, he reflects, “It is always difficult. The coach often bears the brunt of the results, even if the players may not have performed to expectations. I thanked him for his confidence in me, as he made my dream of being a top-flight player come true, and I am sincerely grateful.”

On the uncertainty surrounding his future, he reassures, “I am very calm. My focus is on the team, and after our victory in Sevilla, the atmosphere has changed positively. I am very happy.”

Addressing the challenge of avoiding relegation, he declares, “I am a very positive person. I always strive to believe in myself and the team. I maintain that as long as the math allows, we can achieve our goal. If we can sustain this momentum, I believe we have a capable team.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming match against Espanyol, he concludes, “They are having a strong season, but we approach the game with the hope and determination to secure our first home victory.”
