According to The Sun, Wesley Fofana has been fined for his tenth driving offense after being caught speeding at 54mph in a 40mph zone in Twickenham on February 27 of last year. The Chelsea centre-back was driving a £300,000 Rolls Royce and pleaded guilty to the speeding charge. Previously, he received a two-year driving ban due to a series of infractions that resulted in 38 points on his license and a fine of £7,569. Magistrate Alan Jefferson condemned Fofana’s behavior before imposing a £666 financial penalty, along with a £266 surcharge and £130 in court costs.

In court, Jefferson remarked, “It’s obvious that he’s a habitual offender. We have taken into consideration his income and early guilty plea. His license record will be endorsed with 3 penalty points.”

Prosecutor Kari Williamson stated, “He appeared before the court in May last year. He was disqualified as a totter. The offense on that occasion resulted in a two-year disqualification with 47 points. This latest offense took place just weeks after the previous one. He will have to complete another driving test before he can obtain a new license. His income exceeds £200,000 a week.”

Fofana has faced significant fitness challenges since his transfer to Chelsea from Leicester. In the 2023/24 season, he suffered a cruciate ligament tear that sidelined him for a year, and subsequently missed 36 games due to a hamstring injury, followed by surgery. Despite these setbacks, he has shared his struggles on the club’s website, stating, “In football, it’s hard to take your time because there is a game every three days, but he [Maresca] protects me and encourages me positively.”

He added, “I underwent hamstring surgery and must be cautious during my recovery. He avoids taking risks with my health as he aims for me to play regularly again. My goal is to play every game, and we need to progress carefully towards that. As an aggressive and fast player, I understand the need to prioritize my recovery.”

Looking ahead, Chelsea is set to face Charlton in the third round of the FA Cup, followed by a clash with Arsenal in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. Fofana has expressed his eagerness to secure a trophy after missing out on the Conference League. “I want more because I missed that victory. I am focused on experiencing those moments again. Although I cannot reclaim the time lost, it fuels my determination to win.”

He emphasized the importance of unity within the team as they navigate a long season filled with competitions, stating, “It’s crucial that we stick together. Our objective is to excel in all tournaments and fight for every title, while my aim is to remain with the team and contribute fully.”
