Ajax Player Steven Berghuis Linked to Seattle Sounders Transfer Amid Recovery

Ajax player Steven Berghuis has sparked speculation regarding a potential transfer to the Seattle Sounders. Meanwhile, he is still recovering from a lingering groin injury that has kept him out of action for the past three months.

In an update ahead of the match against Telstar, Coach Fred Grim commented on Berghuis’s progress: “He was doing quite well before the winter break, but he has unfortunately experienced a minor setback. Consequently, he will not be making his return just yet.”

Regarding teammate Takehiro Tomiyasu, Grim noted that he will require “a few more weeks” before he is match-ready. He added, “He is training with the group, but this is being done in phases. This means he participates in some exercises while sitting out on others. He is making daily progress, and we will monitor his response. It could improve quickly, but he is not quite ready as of now. In the limited activities he has participated in, he has made a very positive impression.”
