Fans of Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart waited a long time to celebrate a Europa League triumph. Previously, the team struggled in their last two UEL fixtures away against FC Basel and Fenerbahçe SK, failing to score in either match. However, Stuttgart returned home for a Thursday night fixture against Feyenoord that illuminated their hopes.

Under the guidance of coach Sebastian Hoeneß, the Swabians aimed to regain the positive momentum they had after winning their opening group stage match against Celta Vigo. Initially, the match seemed challenging as the team grappled with their game plan, and the score remained 0-0 as the match approached the 84th minute.

Fortunately, Stuttgart’s enthusiastic new forward Bilal El Khannouss broke the deadlock, scoring the first goal just before full-time. Lead striker Deniz Undav, who wore the captain’s armband for the night, doubled the lead in the first minute of stoppage time. Undav spoke to RTL shortly after the match, expressing his relief at the team’s performance.

“It’s quite the load off,” Undav stated when asked if the pressure had lessened. “It was an odd game. We had difficulty getting into it and weren’t able to control the match as we had envisioned. Credit to Bilal for breaking the deadlock. We then defended our lead and managed to secure a 2-0 victory.”

He further acknowledged the vital role of the fans, saying, “The fans and our teammates support us immensely, even those who aren’t playing regularly. We motivate each other every day, and the support from our supporters elevates us further. I’ve said it before; we have the fiercest fans. It’s crucial for us to maintain our strong home form.”
