Lamisha Musonda commenced his football journey in Belgium, developing his skills at the Anderlecht academy. In 2012, he relocated to west London with his brothers, yet he did not feature for the first team during his time at Chelsea.

Musonda retired from professional football in 2019 at the young age of 27. His siblings also pursued football careers; Charly was seen as a rising star, making seven appearances for Chelsea before departing in 2022. On the other hand, Tika remains active in the sport and serves as a global talent scout for Liverpool.

Recently, Lamisha shared on Instagram that he is battling a terminal illness, reflecting on his life and football career. In his heartfelt post, which highlighted significant moments from his journey, he remarked: “Life has so many ups and downs and no one really knows the pain you’re dealing with. This has been a tough and grueling couple of years for me. It is with sadness that I must inform you that I’ve been struggling to regain my health, which is why I have been absent from social media.”

He further articulated the need to “come to grips” with his critical health situation, stating, “I am now just fighting to stay alive.”

Musonda reached out for support and prayers, affirming, “I am fighting and I won’t quit until it is time for my last breath.”

He expressed gratitude for the blessings he has received in his early life, lamenting that he may not have the opportunity to thank many wonderful people in person. “It pains me that I might not have the chance to do so. I love you all, Lamisha,” he concluded.

Numerous individuals from the football community offered their support in response to his post. Notable figures, including Belgium’s all-time leading goal-scorer, Romelu Lukaku, commented, “Courage, Lamisha. We are with you.” Former Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia also extended her well wishes, stating, “I sincerely hope you manage to overcome your health struggles! Thinking of you and your family.”

Following the outpouring of encouragement, Musonda took to Instagram once more to express his gratitude. “I want to thank God for the prayers and kind messages filled with positivity and love that I have received from everyone. I also want to express my appreciation for my family, who love me unconditionally. I am not a perfect human being, and no one is.”

He acknowledged the life lessons he gained from football and education, stating he wishes to be remembered not for accolades, but for the good people he met along the way. “It’s for them that I fight and stay strong.”

While Musonda has not disclosed the specific illness he is facing, he remains determined to persevere, taking each day as it comes with the mantra: “Let’s win each day at a time.”
