Javier Tebas remains resolute in his fight against internet piracy. The president of LaLiga did not hesitate to respond to Matthew Prince, the CEO and founder of Cloudflare, a company that has faced multiple piracy-related cases.

Prince announced on his personal account that his company had been fined $17 million by the Italian government for hosting pirated content, framing it as an example of internet censorship. In response, Tebas issued a robust reply, citing notable figures such as Elon Musk and J.D. Vance, the Vice President of the United States.

“Mr. Matthew Prince, you are becoming the ‘Narco Maduro’ of the internet: wrapping yourself in the banner of ‘freedom’ to demand impunity. Fighting piracy is not censorship; it is combating crime. When infrastructure accelerates, protects, and monetizes the mass distribution of stolen content, it ceases to be a philosophy and becomes a crime against intellectual property, often linked to money laundering connected to those networks,” Tebas stated on his X account.

Furthermore, Tebas addressed Elon Musk, entrepreneur and owner of several companies, including the social media platform itself: “Elon Musk: This is not a ‘dark committee’ making arbitrary decisions. There are court orders and due process. Yes, there are rulings in Spain, France, and other countries that Cloudflare systematically ignores.”

Lastly, the LaLiga president directed his comments to J.D. Vance, the Vice President of the United States and a close ally of Donald Trump: “JD Vance: The same point applies here: this is about legality and compliance, not presumption. If Cloudflare seeks respect, it should comply and cooperate. If it wishes to be a safe haven, it should pay the price.”
