Endrick Expresses Confidence in European Success After Joining LyonEndrick Expresses Confidence in European Success After Joining Lyon

Endrick is optimistic about his playing time and success in Europe after choosing to reject offers to return to South America.

The Brazilian striker recently joined Lyon on loan from Real Madrid, having made only three appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions this season.

“Some Brazilian clubs have inquired about my return, but now is not the time to consider that,” stated the 19-year-old in an interview with ESPN Brasil. “I aspire to play in the largest and most prestigious leagues. I must remain in Europe to achieve that.”

Endrick transferred to Real Madrid from Palmeiras when he turned 18 in July 2024, where he made 22 league appearances during his inaugural season in Spain.

“My first year was remarkable,” he reflected. “From the moment of my presentation, I had the opportunity to participate in all competitions and scored goals in each one.

“Joining the biggest club in the world at 18, amidst a squad that has won everything, was an incredible experience. I know my playing time will increase, but I must approach it step by step.”

He acknowledged having taken the advice of Brazil’s coach Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid’s manager Xabi Alonso when deciding to leave Madrid during this transfer window.

“Both Ancelotti and Xabi emphasized the importance of securing more playing time at a major club,” he said. “They highlighted how crucial it is for younger players to consistently be on the field after arriving in Europe.”

Endrick, who faced challenges with a recurring hamstring injury earlier this season, has reported that he is now fully fit. He is eager to play regularly and enhance his chances of making Brazil’s World Cup squad.

“I hope we can discuss the World Cup soon,” he said. “I will work diligently for Lyon to secure a title, and if I perform well, my chances of being called up will increase.”

Endrick made a strong debut with Lyon on Sunday, playing 72 minutes and scoring the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory against Lille in the Coupe de France.
