Vinicius Jr. scored in the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona, but his efforts were not enough to prevent his team from losing 3-2.

Atletico Madrid’s manager, Diego Simeone, has issued an apology to Vinicius Jr. for his behavior towards the Real Madrid winger during their Spanish Super Cup semi-final. Reports indicate that Simeone made remarks to the 25-year-old Brazilian from the touchline, suggesting that Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, might be considering transferring him.

Vinicius, whose contract extends until the summer of 2027, played a crucial role in Real Madrid’s 2-1 victory over Atletico in last Thursday’s semi-final, although they later succumbed to a 3-2 defeat against Barcelona in the final held in Saudi Arabia.

“I would like to apologize to Mr. Florentino and Mr. Vinicius for the incident they witnessed,” Simeone stated. “It was inappropriate for me to put myself in that position, and I acknowledge that my actions were wrong. The team that wins deserves to progress; they earned their victory.”

Moreover, Simeone seemed to engage in a conversation with Vinicius when the forward was substituted after 81 minutes. When questioned about whether his behavior had crossed a line, Simeone replied, “I apologize, but I do not ask for forgiveness. I have nothing further to add.”

Real Madrid triumphed over Atletico to reach the Spanish Super Cup final, while Barcelona emerged victorious against Real Madrid to retain the title.
