Injury Update on Betis Players Following LaLiga MatchInjury Update on Betis Players Following LaLiga Match

Nearly 48 hours after the conclusion of the LaLiga match against Oviedo at Carlos Tartiere, and following medical examinations upon their return to Seville, Real Betis has issued a medical report confirming injuries to Chucho Hernández and Junior Firpo. Both players are expected to be sidelined for several weeks.

The club’s medical staff has diagnosed the Colombian forward with a posterolateral myofascial injury to his left rectus femoris, while the Dominican full-back is suffering from a myofascial injury to his left hamstring. Although no specific recovery timeline has been established, the statement indicates that their return to the team will depend on their individual progress. However, it is anticipated that Hernández will be out for approximately three to four weeks, while Firpo may be unavailable for about a month.

With Hernández’s absence, Congolese striker Cédric Bakambu will be the sole central forward available for upcoming matches. Coach Manuel Pellegrini may consider repositioning Chimy Ávila, Pablo García, or Aitor Ruibal as alternatives. For the left-back position, options such as Ricardo Rodríguez or the versatile Valentín Gómez will be available to the manager during Firpo’s recovery period.

Ángel Ortiz, who also experienced physical issues during the match against Oviedo, has not sustained any significant injury and was able to train in the gym today. While it seems unlikely that he will be available for the Copa del Rey match against Elche at La Cartuja on Wednesday, the club has not included his name in the medical report, indicating a positive outlook regarding his fitness following a demanding match where he required substitution in the second half.
