Criticism of Ayase Ueda’s Performance in Draw Against SC Heerenveen

Ayase Ueda, with eighteen goals to his name, proudly holds the title of the top scorer in the Eredivisie. However, during the recent match against SC Heerenveen, which ended in a 2-2 draw, the Japanese forward of Feyenoord struggled to make an impact, leading to significant criticism.

Former coach Robert Maaskant expressed that Ueda needs to enhance his contributions on the field. “Especially when Heerenveen begins to apply more pressure, you rely on a striker who can hold the ball. When a striker maintains possession, it provides the team with needed composure,” Maaskant explained during an interview on FC Rijnmond. “The opening goal by Leo Sauer was a perfect example of this situation.”
