Marco van Basten Optimistic About Ajax’s Future with Jordi Cruijff

Marco van Basten is hopeful that Ajax will regain its former glory in the coming years. The former coach of the Dutch national team foresees a pivotal role for Jordi Cruijff, who is expected to assume the position of technical director in February.

When asked if Cruijff could be the savior for Ajax, Van Basten remarked, “I hope so.” He acknowledged the complexities involved, noting that buying and selling players is a challenging profession that requires financial acumen, insight, and connections. “It remains a question without a clear answer. One can only hope that Ajax has a bit of luck in that regard.”

However, the official appointment of Cruijff has not yet been confirmed by Ajax. According to Het Parool, there is still a possibility that both parties may not reach an agreement. Journalist Bas Soetenhorst stated in the podcast Branie, “The likelihood of his arrival is greater than not, but it is not certain.”
