Endrick s Promising Loan Move to Lyon A New Chapter in His CareerEndrick s Promising Loan Move to Lyon A New Chapter in His Career

The 19-year-old forward, Endrick, made only four appearances for Real Madrid under manager Xabi Alonso, who took charge in the summer of 2025. Unfortunately, a string of injuries hampered the young athlete’s progress.

His final La Liga appearance occurred on December 7 during a match against Celta Vigo, where he received a red card, leading to a sanctioned transfer to France. Since April 1, 2025, Endrick has not scored for the Blancos.

Discussions around a potential loan had been ongoing before Olympique Lyon expressed interest, especially given Endrick’s links to several European clubs, including multiple teams in the Premier League. Ultimately, it was decided that his development would be best supported in Ligue 1, culminating in a six-month loan agreement extending through the end of the 2025-26 season. Lyon is excited to bring Endrick on board, especially as they seek creativity in their attacking play.

Endrick made an immediate impact on his debut in the Coupe de France against Lille, coming close to scoring within the first five minutes as he struck the post. He opened his goal account shortly before halftime with a well-executed left-footed volley.

His performance garnered attention, particularly from Real Madrid, who may be contemplating his potential role within their squad this season. With Xabi Alonso relieved of his managerial duties following a Super Cup final defeat to Barcelona, a fresh start is anticipated for Real Madrid. Alvaro Arbeloa is currently serving as caretaker manager, and with a recall clause in place for Endrick that must be activated before January 20, the future remains uncertain.

However, given Endrick’s need for regular playing time, it seems unlikely that his loan in France will be abruptly terminated. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated on social media and in discussions with DAZN Espana that, while Real Madrid holds a recall clause for Endrick’s loan at Lyon, there are no current plans to exercise it, especially following Alonso’s departure. The club is reportedly pleased with Endrick’s start at Lyon, and the player himself is excited after scoring on his debut.

After the match, Endrick expressed his joy to reporters: “I’m very happy; it was my first match. The most important thing was this qualification. We knew it was going to be a tough match. I thank God for the opportunity to score. I feel at home here, and I’m grateful to the staff and my teammates.”

For Endrick to return to Madrid, he would need to assert himself further at Lyon, which appears unlikely at this stage. He has a contract with Real Madrid that extends until the summer of 2030, suggesting he still has a future with the club.
