Union Berlin Poised to Sign Zeno Van Den Bosch on Free TransferUnion Berlin Poised to Sign Zeno Van Den Bosch on Free Transfer

Sky Germany reports that 1. FC Union Berlin is expected to confirm the signing of Belgian centre-back Zeno Van Den Bosch on a free transfer soon. The Köpenick-based Bundesliga club has been considering the 22-year-old as a possible replacement for Danilho Doekhi, who is likely to leave the team.

According to Sky, Van Den Bosch has successfully completed his medical examination with Union, and the official announcement from the club is anticipated shortly.

Due to his expiring contract with Royal Antwerp, Van Den Bosch is currently free to negotiate his departure during the ongoing January transfer window. This situation is similar for Union’s defenders Doekhi and Diogo Leite, both of whom are expected to exit the club once the season concludes.

Furthermore, Sky has indicated that VfL Wolfsburg has entered the fray to secure Doekhi on a free transfer. However, this scenario appears unlikely given that Doekhi has attracted interest from Premier League clubs such as Leeds and Aston Villa. Wolfsburg’s current difficulties, highlighted by a record number of own goals scored by their defenders in the Bundesliga this weekend, further diminish the likelihood of Doekhi choosing to join the team.
