Valencia s Strategic Approach Ahead of Copa Match Against BurgosValencia s Strategic Approach Ahead of Copa Match Against Burgos

Carlos Corberán, the coach of Valencia, is diligently preparing for the Copa match against Burgos, scheduled for Thursday at 21:00. Given the tight schedule, he recognizes the challenge of having limited time to recuperate players before their subsequent match against Getafe. Notably, neither César Tárrega nor José Luis Gayá participated in Tuesday’s training due to load management considerations. Both are expected to be starters on Sunday against Getafe at 14:00, and the intention is to preserve them during the Copa encounter.

Currently, Valencia is dealing with three confirmed injuries (Thierry, Agirrezabala, and Diakhaby), and upcoming lineups—pending reinforcements—will need to include players from the reserve team.

According to sources within the club, Valencia has expressed concerns regarding the scheduling of matches this week, which affords them approximately 63 hours of recovery between the Copa match (expected to conclude around 23:00 on Thursday, barring extra time) and the kickoff for the next fixture against Getafe on Sunday. Valencia plans to travel to Burgos on Thursday for the Copa match, stay overnight, and return on Friday for a regenerative training session at their training facility. A further training session is scheduled for Saturday in Paterna, in preparation for the league match, followed by an afternoon departure to Getafe, as there is no opportunity to travel on match day itself.

In light of this tight turnaround, Corberán’s strategy is to field two nearly distinct teams for the Copa and Liga matches, ensuring that the players are in optimal condition to compete against a physically demanding opponent at the Coliseum.
