Erik ten Hag was presented as the new technical director of FC Twente on Wednesday afternoon. However, this appointment does not preclude the possibility of him succeeding Ronald Koeman as the coach of the Dutch national team.

Ten Hag indicated that he is not ruling out the opportunity to take on the national coaching role in the future. “To avoid any misunderstandings, being a national coach is a significant honor for any trainer,” stated FC Twente’s general director, Dominique Scholten, candidly.

The question remains whether the KNVB (Royal Dutch Football Association) is interested in Ten Hag for the position. According to SoccerNews journalist Mounir Boualin, there are indications that the KNVB does not view Ten Hag and Bosz as their top two options for the job. “The KNVB seems to have other candidates in mind, and it’s possible that both Ten Hag and Bosz are aware of this,” Boualin revealed.

As Ten Hag embarks on his new role at FC Twente, Bosz is reportedly close to extending his contract with PSV. Boualin further noted that neither coach has been approached by the KNVB, suggesting that if they realize they are not the primary choices for the national team, any potential ‘Oranje clause’ in their new contracts may not be relevant.
