Ajax is expected to refrain from strengthening their squad with Manuel Ugarte this winter. This information was shared by Mounir Boualin in the latest episode of Transfermind, a podcast by SoccerNews. Ugarte was linked to a loan transfer to Ajax, yet he is not considered one of the primary options for the Amsterdam club, according to Boualin.

Following the departure of Jordan Henderson to Brentford, Ajax has been on the lookout for a new controlling midfielder. In recent weeks, several names have surfaced, including Ugarte. The club reportedly considered a half-season loan for the Uruguayan international; however, Boualin indicates that the Manchester United player has never been a top candidate. “His name has appeared frequently in the media, but from what I understand, Ugarte is neither the first nor the second option for Ajax at the moment,” stated the transfer journalist on Transfermind.

Another player frequently mentioned is Daley Blind. The veteran defender has long been associated with a return to Ajax, but it has yet to materialize. Boualin remarked, “I believe Ajax is in good discussions with Blind. I think this looks more promising than the other candidates mentioned.” Mike Verweij from De Telegraaf agreed, stating, “Daley Blind is currently a more realistic option as a number six. He can also play as a left-back and left center-back.”
