Ajax Capitalizes on Feyenoord s Missteps by Securing Paulo da SilvaAjax Capitalizes on Feyenoord s Missteps by Securing Paulo da Silva

Ajax is reaping the benefits of Feyenoord’s recent struggles, as noted by Jan Verdonk, a prominent Ajax commentator and member of the Pantelic Podcast, on X.

The Amsterdam club has successfully secured the talents of NEC’s standout player, Paulo da Silva, right under the noses of Feyenoord. Notably, Feyenoord reportedly offered him double the salary, yet the young Tilburg native, aged 18, was more attracted to Ajax’s sporting vision, which allows him the opportunity to play with the reserve team in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie.

Paulo da Silva currently leads the U19 league as the top scorer, having netted fourteen goals in twelve appearances. Although he has joined the first team during training sessions under coach Dick Schreuder, he has yet to make his competitive debut. NEC is eager to retain the forward but has been unable to meet his salary demands. Prior interest from SL Benfica and Liverpool FC has been confirmed by his family.
