FC Augsburg is reportedly nearing the signing of striker Rodrigo Ribeiro from Sporting CP, as announced by Get German Football News. According to Kicker, the 20-year-old forward will join the Bundesliga club on a loan deal that includes a €5 million purchase option.

Despite not having scored for Sporting’s senior team and facing challenges during his loan spell at Nottingham Forest, Ribeiro is still regarded as a player with significant developmental potential.

Augsburg has yet to compete in their Bundesliga match this week, amidst a rare midweek fixture schedule known as “Englischer Woche.” The team, managed by Manuel Baum, is currently facing relegation threats after a disappointing start to 2026, highlighted by a 4-0 loss against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Ahead of their match against Union Berlin, the Bavarian club confirmed two loan arrangements yesterday. One of the players, a young Luxembourg international, recently received a professional contract in autumn and will be loaned to SpVgg Greuther Fürth for the remainder of the season, without a purchase option included. Since signing his new deal with Augsburg in early August, he has made three appearances in the Bundesliga.

“Aiman has developed very positively at FCA in recent months,” commented Augsburg’s sporting director, Benni Weber, in a club statement. “His impressive performances with the U23s, his contract extension during the summer, and his increasing role in the Luxembourg national team underscore this. The loan to SpVgg Greuther Fürth is the next logical step, allowing him to gain continuous playing experience at a high level in the 2. Bundesliga.”

The player himself expressed satisfaction with the loan’s timing: “I’m very happy that the loan was finalized before the start of the second half of the season. It’s great that it’s starting right away and that I can help. I know that young players get their chances here. I want to take advantage of that now and give it my all to ensure we start the new year on the best note possible.”

Additionally, the loan of Tunisian international Elias Saad to Hannover 96 has been finalized. As previously reported by Get German Football News, this loan does not include a purchase option, and the former St. Pauli player will spend six months in Lower Saxony.

“Elias has the profile we were looking for to enhance our options in the final third,” stated newly appointed managing director Jörg Schmadtke in a club announcement. “He possesses a unique quality in one-on-one situations, is an agile player, and excels at finding solutions in tight spaces.”

Saad echoed these sentiments, stating, “Hannover 96 plays a style of football that I can totally see myself in. The style of play suits what I’m all about.”
