Ajax Seeks New Midfielder Following Departures

Ajax is set to pursue an additional midfielder in January, following the departures of James McConnell, who has returned to Liverpool, and Kenneth Taylor, who has moved to SS Lazio. Among the potential targets is Dennis Geiger from TSG Hoffenheim.

Dennis Geiger, aged 27, has already made 147 appearances for Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga. However, he has recently found himself sidelined and is now available for transfer as per the club’s management. According to the German outlet Kicker, Ajax is showing interest in signing him.

Meanwhile, some analysts, including journalist Henk Spaan, argue that Ajax does not necessarily require a new midfielder, as Youri Regeer has proven capable in that role. Spaan noted that when Regeer was substituted during the match against Telstar, the team’s balance noticeably suffered, particularly due to Jorthy Mokio’s disappointing performance as a substitute.
