Robert Andrich Discusses Florian Wirtz s Transfer to LiverpoolRobert Andrich Discusses Florian Wirtz s Transfer to Liverpool

In a recent episode of the Spielmacher Podcast, Bayer Leverkusen’s Robert Andrich revealed his conversation with Florian Wirtz regarding a potential transfer to Bayern Munich.

Last summer, Wirtz was at the center of a transfer battle between Liverpool and Bayern Munich, with the latter making considerable efforts to secure his services. Ultimately, Wirtz opted for a €125 million move to Liverpool.

Andrich, the captain of Leverkusen, recounted his advice to Wirtz during the transfer saga: “Please don’t go to Bayern. I honestly thought he’d go there. I told him at some point: Please don’t do it. Don’t do this to us. We need German talents to stay here. But in the end, when discussing top-tier quality like Flo’s, there’s only Bayern Munich. I wanted him to go abroad and expressed this to the Bayern representatives as well. I was pleased he made the move, as I did not expect him to go abroad so soon.”

Following his transition to Liverpool, Wirtz faced immediate scrutiny, finding himself in a struggling team while adjusting to a new country and environment.

Regarding Wirtz’s gradual adaptation in England, Andrich remarked, “I don’t think it’s bad that he needs a little time. I know him well enough to understand that it doesn’t concern him as much as one might think, because he has a very supportive family and environment.”

Recently, Wirtz has begun to demonstrate his outstanding abilities, scoring three goals and providing two assists in his last six matches across all competitions.
