Sergio Ramos Pursues Acquisition of Sevilla FCSergio Ramos Pursues Acquisition of Sevilla FC

Sergio Ramos has arrived in Sevilla to negotiate the purchase of the renowned football club. The Spanish international landed at San Pablo Airport on Thursday, accompanied by his brother, René Ramos, and his trusted lawyer, Julio Senn—key figures in the consortium led by the former player of Rayados de Monterrey.

In the coming days, Ramos is scheduled to hold several meetings with major shareholders of the club and influential figures involved in the sale, including lawyer Alberto Pérez Solano, who plays a significant role in these negotiations. Backed by a strong group of investors, Ramos’s consortium has reportedly offered around 400 million euros to acquire the Sánchez-Pizjuán entity, which includes addressing the club’s debts. Some sources indicate that this is the largest offer received to date.

Following a setback from the main American investment group that was negotiating with shareholders and had proposed over 3,000 euros per share, there is another American fund currently interested, although its name has not been disclosed. Alongside Ramos’s proposal, the so-called Third Way led by Antonio Lappí and Fede Quintero remains in the mix.

Beyond the financial aspects of the proposal, it remains to be seen how willing the major families involved will be to find common ground with Ramos’s alternative. Significant attention is required regarding Del Nido Benavente, the club’s largest individual shareholder. The former president sold Sergio Ramos to Real Madrid in 2005 for 27 million euros. Having harbored feelings about that exit, Ramos returned to Sevilla in 2023.

When questioned about his previous departure, Ramos stated, “I am not a resentful person, and I tend to forget. The circumstances of my exit were misrepresented. Ultimately, it was portrayed as a release clause payment, but it was a payment and an agreement between both clubs. That is the only difference that perhaps people didn’t know or were told another story. I hold no grudges against anyone. I have affection for José María del Nido because he gave me my debut with the first team and helped me sign my first professional contract.” The sale of the defender addressed Sevilla’s financial needs, and now the opportunity for reconciliation may present itself.

Ramos has already presented his proposal during a meeting that lasted approximately two hours. Although the feedback has been positive, according to ABC, the shareholders are still negotiating with a second investor who has provided an exclusive proposal while awaiting the completion of the due diligence process and finalizing their offer. Consequently, Ramos will have to officially wait his turn as negotiations continue with the current investor leading the discussions.
