Lucas Paquet s Potential Return to Brazil Flamengo in PursuitLucas Paquet s Potential Return to Brazil Flamengo in Pursuit

Lucas Paquetá is reportedly eager to return to Brazil, according to multiple sources.

Flamengo is currently considering the possibility of loaning Paquetá back to West Ham United as part of their efforts to secure the Brazilian international this month.

BBC Sport has reported that the forward has attracted interest from at least two clubs in Brazil, one of which is Flamengo, who are prepared to make an offer of approximately £35 million for his services.

Sources indicate that Paquetá is pushing for a move, but West Ham is hesitant to part ways with him as they navigate a relegation battle. Nevertheless, it is understood that they would contemplate allowing Paquetá to join Flamengo during the transfer window, provided he is loaned back to West Ham for the remainder of the season.

Discussions regarding this potential arrangement have reportedly taken place between the two clubs. The Brazilian Serie A does not commence until March, which theoretically opens the door for such a deal.

However, any agreement allowing Paquetá to remain in London until the end of the season in May may hinge on West Ham’s position in the league, as they currently sit seven points behind Nottingham Forest, who occupy the 17th place.

The Brazilian midfielder missed last weekend’s FA Cup third-round victory over Queens Park Rangers, which led to speculation among insiders that he opted out due to his desire to leave. However, club representatives have clarified that Paquetá’s absence was due to a minor injury.

It remains to be seen whether Paquetá will be included in the squad for the upcoming Premier League match against Tottenham on Saturday.

West Ham manager Nuno Espírito Santo emphasized the need for a swift resolution regarding Paquetá’s situation. In comments made Thursday, he stated, “We always want our best players to be involved, and Lucas is one of our best players, so let’s try to solve the situation. It’s a solution that we have to find, both as a club and individually for the player and myself.”
