Oliver Glasner to Depart Crystal Palace at Season s EndOliver Glasner to Depart Crystal Palace at Season s End

Oliver Glasner, the esteemed manager of Crystal Palace, has officially confirmed that he will depart the club upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the current season.

The 51-year-old Austrian leaves behind a legacy as a Palace legend, having guided the Eagles to their inaugural major trophy—the FA Cup—following a triumphant victory over Manchester City last season.

This significant achievement also earned Glasner the opportunity to lead Palace in this season’s Conference League, marking the club’s first foray into a major European competition. Additionally, he steered the team to a victory against Liverpool in the Community Shield this past August, triumphing in a penalty shootout.

According to sources from BBC Sport, Glasner was presented with a new contract offer last summer. However, he disclosed on Friday that he had informed chairman Steve Parish of his decision not to renew his contract during a meeting in October.

This announcement coincides with the speculation surrounding Palace captain Marc Guehi’s potential transfer to Manchester City. Nevertheless, Glasner clarified that his departure is unrelated to transfer matters.

“A decision has already been made months ago. I had a lengthy discussion with Steve [Parish] during the international break in October,” Glasner stated.

“I expressed my intention not to sign a new contract, and we agreed that it was best to keep that information confidential for three months. However, clarity is now essential, especially given our busy schedule, which is why we refrained from discussing it earlier. Both Steve and I have the best interests of Crystal Palace at heart.”

Further updates will follow.
