Donyell Malen, the forward from the Netherlands, has transferred to AS Roma from Aston Villa after just one season in the Premier League.

While Aston Villa has reported the deal at an undisclosed fee, AS Roma has confirmed that the arrangement is a loan that includes an option to purchase.

During his time with Villa, the 26-year-old Malen netted 10 goals across 46 appearances, having joined the club from Borussia Dortmund in January 2025.

This season, Malen has recorded seven goals for Unai Emery’s side; however, he has faced challenges securing regular playing time, starting only five times in 21 league appearances thus far.

Malen’s football journey includes stints at Ajax and Arsenal during his youth, and he began his professional career at PSV Eindhoven before his transfer to Dortmund in 2021.

Overall, he has accumulated 104 goals in 294 club appearances and has represented the Netherlands 49 times, scoring 13 goals.

At AS Roma, Malen will don the number 14 jersey as the team currently stands fifth in Serie A.
