Oliver Glasner, the manager of Crystal Palace, has officially announced that he will depart from the club at the conclusion of the current season.

During a press conference on Friday, Glasner revealed that he would not be renewing his contract, putting an end to months of speculation surrounding his future with the team. “My decision was made several months ago,” Glasner stated.

He recounted a meeting with club chairman Steve Parish during the October international break, where they shared a lengthy discussion over dinner. At that time, Glasner communicated his intention not to sign a new contract with Crystal Palace.

Glasner expressed satisfaction in being able to provide clarity to everyone at the club moving forward. He also confirmed that captain Marc Guéhi is nearing the completion of his transfer to Manchester City.

“I informed the team today of my decision as well, as it’s crucial to have transparency. I want to eliminate any uncertainties among the players about what is happening,” he emphasized.

He acknowledged that the team has been navigating a demanding schedule, which is why they opted not to disclose this information sooner, as both he and Parish prioritize the best interests of Crystal Palace.

The Austrian manager joined Crystal Palace in 2024 from Eintracht Frankfurt, a swift appointment by Parish following the departure of Roy Hodgson. Glasner initially signed a contract that extended to the end of the 2025-26 season, which will now expire without renewal.

Under his leadership, the Eagles achieved a historic milestone by securing the FA Cup in 2025 during his first full campaign, marking the club’s first major trophy.

Speculation regarding Glasner’s future has persisted since the season began, with Parish having expressed a desire to retain him in October. Crystal Palace has not yet commented on potential candidates to succeed him.
